    GHCC Members,

With great frustration and disappointment, GHCC will be closed today due to the residual sediment remaining in the pool from the volume of chemicals dispersed into the pool last weekend. In terms of water chemistry, our pool has been perfectly safe for both children and adults since Monday evening. The lingering effects of the chemical shock and subsequent cleanup have left the pool cloudy.

Reduced visibility is unsafe for swimming and therefore remains a matter for concern. Our first priority is the safety of our membership, so the pool is closed in accordance with the recommended guidelines. We are committed to exhaust all measures to remove remaining sediment and reopen the pool for the holiday weekend.

Please note, it is our expressed goal for GHCC to open tomorrow – Friday, July 1 – and remain open for our regular pool hours (10 a.m. - 10 p.m.). Please check back later as we will confirm our intention to open this afternoon or evening.>

The Board and lifeguards bear the responsibility to respond with a sense of urgency to ensure the safety of all. As such, I commend  Aaron Winger  and our staff at GHCC for their action in closing the pool and remaining diligent in the cleaning and recovery process. Aaron has dedicated numerous hours to GHCC and is a vital part in the safety of GHCC.

Aaron, thank you for your dedication and concern for the safety of our families. And thanks to all of you for your cooperation, understanding and support.

    Sincerely,

    Rhett Stokes

For those of you interested in getting swim lessons for your children, GHCC will be offering lessons with a professional instructor again this year. There will be multiple sessions for swimmers at a variety of skill levels in small, focused groups. Lessons are available at reasonable rates.

We're currently working with our instructor to set-up a schedule of classes, which will be announced as soon as it's finalized.
